• Why did we go to Bolivia?
We met while travelling
more than years ago and have travelled extensively since then.
Shortly after we got married in 2002, we decided to travel to South
America to live and work there, experience life and do voluntary
work - we ended up in Bolivia.
• Why did we start Charity Bolivia?
While in Bolivia, we
were working as volunteers at the Colonia Ecologica project and
we experienced first-hand what little the children and adoptive
parents had and how primitive their living conditions were. We also
felt that despite this there was a happy and positive atmosphere
there. Both of us enjoyed our time there and felt that we would
like to help in any way we could. While in Bolivia for Christmas,
there were several occasions where gifts were sent to us by friends
and family from home. In most cases they never arrived. This seemed
like such a waste - we had everything we needed anyway, so why not
direct the money usually spent on gifts to Colonia Ecologica? After
discussing this initial idea and sounding it out with friends and
family, we thought: Why not go one step further and set up a charity
officially? That way we would have a better chance of raising money,
helping Colonia Ecologica in more significant ways, and helping
other worthy projects in the area ...... and so Charity Bolivia
was born! |

Carlye Krohn from Oregon state, USA, who is currently teaching in
Bolivia and volunteering at Colonia Ecologica, teaching English to Carmen and some of the children. Carlye and Wendell came to Bolivia to experience a different culture and learn another language.
